Minor in Art or Fine art History

Two minors are offered in the art program: studio art and art history.A minor consists of 18 hours and includes report in fine art history and studio courses.

Success Story: See Aldrick

After 20 years in the military machine, Aldrick Scott wasn't sure if college was going to be the best fit. Just he also knew he needed a degree to achieve his dream of becoming an artist.

"At first, I thought I wasn't going to be accepted and would non fit in," said Scott, who grew up in Orlando, Florida, and lives in Topeka. "I was totally wrong. Not only was I accepted, I felt a role of a customs that helped me grow as a person and was able to become an amazing artist."

Scott retired after serving 10 years each in the Marines and Ground forces, including 6 deployments to the Middle East. He then attended Washburn, taking the beginning step to realizing his dream of condign an artist.

That dream came true subsequently he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in graphic design in May 2019. Scott currently works equally a freelance graphic designer and YouTuber, "The Doodler" Doodles by Aldrick.
"Washburn is truly a groovy and beautiful campus," he said. "You will never have a meliorate experience."

The Fine art Department serves those intending to prepare for a profession in the Visual Arts (B.F.A. degrees), those students seeking a Liberal Arts education focused in the visual arts (B.A. degrees), as well as non-majors who seek cognition of the visual arts. Studio and art history courses are open up to anyone with proper prerequisites.
