Art alumna highlight
After 20 years in the military machine, Aldrick Scott wasn't sure if college was going to be the best fit. Just he also knew he needed a degree to achieve his dream of becoming an artist. "At first, I thought I wasn't going to be accepted and would non fit in," said Scott, who grew up in Orlando, Florida, and lives in Topeka. "I was totally wrong. Not only was I accepted, I felt a role of a customs that helped me grow as a person and was able to become an amazing artist." Scott retired after serving 10 years each in the Marines and Ground forces, including 6 deployments to the Middle East. He then attended Washburn, taking the beginning step to realizing his dream of condign an artist. That dream came true subsequently he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in graphic design in May 2019. Scott currently works equally a freelance graphic designer and YouTuber, "The Doodler" Doodles by Aldrick.
